INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE & AWARD CEREMONY

„GEN Summit 2017“ & „Data Journalism Award“

Over the course of three days, the participants in the international „Global Editors Network Summit” discussed current developments in journalism in the Vienna Academy of Sciences. The “Data Journalism Award” was presented in the grand ball room (Festsaal) of the Imperial Palace (Hofburg). Working on behalf of the Vienna-based television station W24, we had the pleasure of supporting the conference by recording, transmitting our video signal to the venue’s screen, and live streaming selected keynotes on Facebook and YouTube.

GEN SUMMIT: 3 CAMERAS

Using 3 cameras, we captured all keynotes and panel discussions over the course of the three days. Cameras 1 and 2 provided close-ups and a wide shot of the stage, whereas the third camera covered the reverse shot so that audience questions could also be captured.
We managed to do all that with a single team consisting of 2 people located at the director’s desk. The cost benefits due to the small number of professionals needed become especially clear in multi-day events such as this one.

LIVE STREAM ON FACEBOOK AND YOUTUBE // PRESENTATIONS AS A PICTURE-IN-PICTURE

Selected keynotes were streamed on Facebook and YouTube at the client’s request. We incorporated the presentations/pre-produced video clips as a Picture-in-Picture. That way, the text contained in them was clearly legible, and the person talking remained visible on screen.

Data journalism Award

On the second day of the conference, there was an evening gala in the grand ball room (Festsaal) of the Imperial Palace (Hofburg), where the “Data Journalism Awards” were presented. We were on location with a second team with 4 cameras, including a wireless mobile steadycam, and we transmitted a live video signal to the venue’s screen, as well as streamed the entire event on YouTube.
